As you may know, the TCA was formerly the Taymouth School. At that time teacher, Shirley King, had painted the school piano purple. When the TCA purchased the school building, we were very lucky to inherit the purple piano. Several TCA members mentioned over the years that we should have events with the piano in mind. So, the Purple Piano Cafe was born. The event was originally a collaboration in 2008 between Connie Campbell and Jim Emberger and is still enjoyed every year. (scroll down for photo gallery) The date for the Cafe will change yearly. Sign up for the newsletter and check out events calendar to learn more. A full evening of fun described here! October 22, 2022 by Sandra English Friends and neighbors gathered last evening for a long awaited Harvest Purple Piano Café at the Taymouth Community Center. Guests were welcomed into a beautifully decorated room with a fall theme. The aroma of a hot turkey dinner being prepared wafted through the building. A team of volunteers directed by Amy Floyd, prepared, cooked, plated and served a delicious meal. The turkey was complimented by home grown squash from Andrew Bruce, homemade cranberry sauce from Connie and Jim, stuffing made with Connie’s recipe by Gary & Sandra, and colorful mixed vegetables. Mashed potatoes were blessed with yummy gravy, thanks Amy. Dessert of Apple Crisp was prepared by several talented community bakers and topped with real whipped cream. During dessert Amy Floyd thanked everyone for their support and recognized all of the volunteers with a round of applause. She also expressed her pleasure of being part of our community and recognized the importance of the Taymouth Community Association celebrating 20 years of community service. With our tummies full, we settled in for a treat of talent. Connie Campbell introduced Sam and Charlene Johnston and Bernie Clarkson. They put together a great selection of tunes seasoned with humour. We have often welcomed Sam and Charlene at our Market and they also share their talent with churches, community halls and senior care facilities. During COVID they entertained us with Facebook videos. Their selections were classic country, vintage ballads, great memory music. Bernie was a great fit for the evening, often getting a chuckle along with his musical contribution. We thank all who attended, volunteered or helped in any way, especially staying behind to help with the clean up. Photo Gallery - PPC October 22, 2022
