Market History Historically, our first market was August 2nd, 2003. The idea of a Saturday morning market came from all of us having so much fun at a community yard sale we had organized in June of that year. Meeting on Saturday mornings became the social hub of the community.
Market Offerings Of course items change with season and vendors, but you will likely find: Beautiful Baked goods - including breads, pies, donuts and other goodies Knitted and crocheted goods Jams, jellies and pickles Award winning dark maple syrup Crafts - Jewelry, stained glass, tole painting, sewing Carved and turned wood Just to name a few... Market Draw Fundraisers Our Market is our biggest fundraiser for the Taymouth Community Centre. Most of the funds raised at market help offset the costs of the steep power bill and other operational costs. Jim Campbell came up with the idea of a Market Lotto board. We have a board that is divided into squares and numbered 1-100. You can pick the squares you want at $2.00 square. Write your name and phone number. Once all 100 squares are purchased the winner is announced by drawing a number. The winner receives $100.00 in cash and the other $100.00 goes to the Market fund. We have 4-5 of these Market Lotto boards each market season raising $400.00 to $500.00 each year.
Other fundraisers consist of purchasing tickets on a major fundraising item for example; two $100.00 grocery cards or a huge basket of donated goodies from the vendors. Tickets are sold all market season and the winner is announced on the last market day of the year in December.
We also have market merchandise for sale such as Taymouth Community Market large shopping bags. CLICK HERE to check out our items available only at the Taymouth Market.
